Election Calendar

The election calendar tracks election dates, deadlines and early voting dates.

CALENDAR CITY ELECTION JUNE 13, 2023

  • (Jan. 1) - First day to receive application absentee ballot for military and overseas voters.
  • (Jan. 9) - First day candidates can file for office.
  • (Jan. 23) - Appoint ballot commissioners at council meeting.
  • (Feb. 13) - Notice of Precinct Change
  • (March 15) - Notice of Emergency Precinct Change/Deadline to order Precinct Change.
  • (March 21) - First day to receive application for ballot by mail from all other voters.
  • (March 31) - Last day for candidates to withdraw their name.
  • (April 13) - Last day candidates can file for office (must be received in City Clerk’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m.).
  • (April 14) - Drawing for ballot position (9:00 a.m.).
  • (April 14) - Ballot Commissioners and Recorder certify ballot (9:30 a.m.).
  • (April 14) - Order ballots from printer.
  • (April 24) - Council appoints election officials.
  • (April 25) - Send notices of appointment to election officials.
  • (April 28) - Last day to receive absentee ballots from printer.
  • (April 28-June 7) - Absentee voting by mail.
  • (May 14) - Mandatory training of election officials begins (within 30 days of election).
  • (May 18-May 24) - First publishing of sample ballots.
  • (May 23) - Last day to register to vote.
  • (May 31-June 10) - Early voting in person conducted between 9 am and 5 pm in Clerk’s Office.
  • (June 3) - Early voting in person conducted 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Saturday).
  • (June 6- June 12) - Second publishing of sample ballot.
  • (June 6 - 13) - Emergency absentee voting period (till noon 6/13).
  • (June 7) - Last day to receive absentee ballot application by mail.
  • (June 12) - Last day to receive hand-delivered absentee ballot.
  • (JUNE 13) - ELECTION DAY (Polls open 6:30 am – 7:30 pm)
  • (June 14) - Absentee ballot received without a postmark accepted.
  • (June 21) - Absentee ballot postmarked by election day accepted.
  • (June 21) - Canvass begins; results declared at end of canvass.
  • (June 23) - Election certified if canvass completed on 6/21 and no recount requested (48 hours after declaration, excluding Sat., Sun. & holiday).
  • (July 1) - New terms of office begin.
