Reports to: Aquatics Manager

 

Job Summary:

The City of Bridgeport is seeking applications for the position of Lifeguard. Under the Aquatics Manager's supervision, the Lifeguard will ensure visitors' safety to our aquatic's facilities at both the outdoor City Pool and The Bridge Sports Complex. Lifeguards will be responsible for explaining safety rules to guests, warning patrons about unsafe situations, and upholding the facilities' policies.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.       Maintain surveillance of patrons within the aquatic facility

2.       Prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment

3.       In the event of an emergency, act appropriately and swiftly to ensure the safety of patrons

4.       Maintain a high level of customer service

5.       Perform pool operations and cleaning duties as assigned

6.       Attend scheduled staff meetings and in-service training

7.       Enforce all rules and regulations as outlines at the city pool and The Bridge aquatic facility

8.       Represent the City of Bridgeport, The Bridge Sports Complex, and Parks & Recreation with a professional appearance and attitude

9.       Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

The ideal candidate must be at least 15 years of age. He or she must maintain current Lifeguard Training, First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer training. Candidates are not required to have the certifications upon application to the position, but they must be obtained before hiring.
